Day 20

Wednesday July 14th

Today we get the whole day to chill out because mom and dad aren't going riding until tonight. We went into town for the afternoon and did some laundry and went on the brewery tour! The tour part was ok but the samples were more fun. Dad spilled one of is samples all over me (ok, I bumped his hand) so it looked like I peed my pants, how embarassing! We picked up a couple of growlers after the tour. That's draught beer in a half gallon jug!

After dinner I hung out with Marsha while mom and dad went riding with Sylvain, Kealy, Erik and Jonah. They did an epic ride from the top of Grey Mountain down to the Yukon River on the trails: Money Shot, Easy Money, More Money, Payback, SFD, Girlfriend, Juicy, Yukon River Trail and finally the Rim Trail! They started just after 8 and finished up just before midnight and had some stunning views along the way.

A late night for everyone finished up with beers back at the yurts.

Day 19

Tuesday July 13th

All the days are starting to blur together a little bit now, I can never remember what day of the week it is.
Today we had a relaxing morning and then went out to the bike park at Mt. Sima. It's not open yet, they have a special deal for guests of Boreale Mountain biking so Erik, mom and dad all rode the park for a case of beer! They had fun and I slept through it all.
We had dinner with Erik, Kealy, Marsha and Sylvain and I got to try some tortellini and some strawberries. I now have strawberries in my hair! I think I'm getting a bath one of these days.

Day 18

Monday July 12th

A big day today in Carcross. We got to chill out for the morning because Kealy had to work for a bit. So mom and dad and Erik and I went shopping for lunch food and then picked up Kealy, checked out the local bike shop and then we were on our way. I got cranky in the car so we stopped at the world's smallest desert to check it out...

We got to Carcross and had to check in to ride so we got a map. I guess they changed all of the trail names and the map wasn't very good so it was a bit confusing. Erik showed mom and dad one trail and then we met up with Tony, Rory and "the Alaskans" so we rode with them for the rest of the day. A quick lunch at 4:30 followed by a few more laps and we were on our way home.

A late evening so I think we finally had dinner after 9 and I stayed up really late! But I was happy and well-behaved so mom and dad were happy :)

Day 17

Sunday July 11th

Dad was super excited this morning to watch the World Cup Final. We went over to Scott's house, who we didn't know, we met his wife and she was going riding and said he'd love some company for the game as he was home with their kids. Ah, Yukon hospitality! After the game and after lunch mom went for a ride with Kealy while dad and I chilled out. I think I was still cranky from the Dutch losing the big game. More fun in the yurts in the evening, I love pushing myself around on the hardwood floor, I'm earning my keep as 'baby roomba' :D

Day 16

Saturday July 10th

We finally made it to Whitehorse! We arrived at Boreale Mountain Biking just after lunch and got a tour from Marsha. Once we parked the camper we had to go into town and do a mountain of laundry and grab some food and some Yukon beer!

Back up at Yurtville we chilled out and had some dinner. Marsha & Sylvain were running a 'locals weekend' tour so we hung out with a bunch of locals in the evening and got a few pics.

Day 15

Friday July 9th

I can't believe we've been gone for over two weeks already! On the road again! But we're so close! We were thinking of doing a short day again and staying in Watson Lake but after we got gas, I was still napping so we decided to keep going. Of course I woke up shortly after that so we found a spot to stop for lunch for a while and then pushed on to Teslin. It's so close to Whitehorse but not close enough. I did lots of sleeping while we were driving today so mom and dad didn't want to jinx anything. So we're camped on the lake and went for a beer on the patio after setting up camp before taking Luna for a swim.

Day 14

Thursday July 8th

Dad decided we all needed a break so we're doing a short drive today to Muncho Lake and staying there for the night. The drive was really nice today, we saw a lot of goats. We stopped for gas at Toad River and got a few shots...

And here's some campground shots...

And a super restful day. Dad went for a swim after lunch, I played in my tent for a while and then had a nice afternoon nap!

Day 13

Wednesday July 7th

Mom and dad were tired this morning. Apparently I'm not supposed to wake up at 2am crying and then playing and then crying some more. That kind of behaviour is "frowned upon". Another travel day, but dad decided we would do a longer day today and then a couple of short days. I slept for a while this morning but then wasn't happy with being in the car again. We stopped in Fort Nelson for groceries and then went to the park for lunch so that was a nice break! We saw one bear today and then randomly, on the side of the Alaska Highway, miles from anywhere was a guy with a shopping cart full of stuff! Just standing on the side of the road. We're camped at Testa River somewhere along the Alaska Highway. For dinner I got to try some more avocado and some crackers and I tried my sippy cup for the first time! Oops, no pictures, but no internet either. And we only get power until 11 but I should be fast asleep by then (at least mom and dad sure hope so!).

Day 12

Tuesday July 6th

We were hoping to get an early start again today but slept in and for some reason it took us forever to get to Chetwynd! First I was hungry then there was traffic then I got grumpy so we stopped. Dad tried putting the bike rack on the trailer again now that we have the stabilizer but we quickly discovered that was a big mistake so we had to stop again. Then there was more construction and then I got grumpy again so we stopped for lunch by the river. We had to stop in Chetwynd for gas and then mom wanted to try driving. She did ok but dad is definitely better. On the way we saw two bears, some goats, a moose and a deer on our drive. We finally got to the campsite around 5 and got to chill out. Mom and I laundered my diapers and I played around and tried to wave at mom and dad. Dad did some work on the trailer so now we don't have to bungee cord the fridge shut during travel (oops, we forgot once and made a mess!) and once we get some propane we'll have hot water too!

Some pictures taken at our lunch stop...

All ready to roll...

Here's where mom gave up driving. And no, she's not crooked, the sign was

Peace River...

Since I wasn't tired at my bedtime, mom and dad decided to give me a bath!
Here's my duck tub:

Here's me getting ready...

And now I'm clean!

Day 11

Monday July 5th

Another travel day, I guess we have a few of them now until we get to Whitehorse. Our destination today was Prince George and I slept most of the way. Mom and dad saw 4 bears, 2 deer and a coyote! We got to PG around 2 in the afternoon and had more errands to do. First we went to Happy Trails RV to buy an equalizer hitch so we won't get so much sway in the trailer. We asked the guy there about our electrical problem and it turns out it was a blown fuse near the battery hookup so he fixed that for us. A couple more errands and then off to visit mom's old ski patrol friend Stef and her husband and 3 kids. Yay, I got to play with some new toys for a change. We had dinner there and stayed the night.

Day 10

Sunday July 4th

Today is a travel day again. And it was our first day of rain! Auntie Chris and cousin Brenden left in the morning and we started packing up. We had to go pick up dad from the bottom of Sun Peaks and then we drove on up to Clearwater. We got to Dutch Lake around mid-afternoon and then Grandma showed up shortly after that! So we hung out and let Luna swim in the lake while dad relaxed and did some laundry for me. It was alternately sunny and then pouring rain so we had to hang up the laundry all around the camper. Grandma talked to her friend about our power issues and he had a few suggestions including an RV place in PG so we'll be heading there tomorrow.

It's colder here so I was going to wear my Pooh hat but look, my head got bigger!

Here's some shots of Dutch Lake...

Around dinner time, mom's Auntie Chris showed up with Uncle Pat and cousin Jared so we visited with them after dinner.
